Let me be an idiot for a sec, I'm trying to find a kayak I can carry a few miles into the woods and fish from. What's the best folding kayak for <$1000? Or are folding kayaks just a gimmick?

Saw a guy with one of these at the local lake.
Took him 45min to set it up.
It looked retarded.
He kayaked for 1 hr
Spent another 30min breaking it down.

It floated just fine, though I doubt it's anywhere near as good as a quality mid-tier kayak even.

I just learned about pack rafts yesterday. How are they for swamping? I pre-ordered the Oru Lake as it's very ideal for me and swamping. Also how to pack rafts do on the ocean? I want to do some salt water Kayak fishing but I don't have the space for storing a rigid yak. Plus I am trying to leave the city permanently and don't want to have to move a full size Kayak.

Went packrafting today, a section of the Tay in Scotland.

Packrafts are great, slightly slower than kayaks/canoes and very susceptible to high winds.

I have an Alpacka Caribou that I use for floating game out of the backcountry. It has held up really well and is light enough to pack easily.
My bro has their Expedition model and has done class IV rapids in it more times that I can remember.
