FM radio recommendations?

I was thinking about buying a UV5R and just use the FM function but apparently buying a dedicated FM radio is 10 times better for that (a good one can scan and stock everything in a few seconds, amongst other functions).
Apparently Tecsun makes some good ones at a fair price, I'm thinking about the PL-310ET or even the PL-330.
Any of you bring an FM radio /out/?

what purpose? I own the UV5R becuase I could listen to FM radio and get interrupted by walkie broadcasts for my work, it seems far better /out/ radio. BUT: if your only interested in recieving broadcasts I'd say go with something that can do AM and FM, AM radio has far more range and variety in content as a consequence.

Yeah it's just to listen to broadcasts. I'm going to buy a UV5R sooner or later anyways since they're so cheap but right now I'm not planning on transmitting anything.

yeah the Tecsuns I mentioned can do both. Is the sound quality better on FM broadcasts or is it barely noticeable?

I'm pretty sure I bought something almost identical to the OP picture and it still works. Alarm clock function and general button pushing is finnickey, but that's what I get for paying bottom dollar on amazon. I think it was like 10 bucks or less. Just make sure you have spare batterys and it'll be a champ. Reception could always do with a boost too, from wiring or whatever metal antenna stuff you want to haul.

I have pic rel. Not the best, drifts a lot, but does the job. So far I've listened to about 90 hours or more and the batteries are still fine.

does it have an external antenna? even on my UV5R being able to grab the antenna with my hand significantly rose my range and clarity. Then again you could certainly jurry rig an internal one.

You posted my radio, op. I got it really cheap as there was an external antenna missing from the box. I don't use it much on my trips, but when I'm in the middle of nowhere for days, it's always nice to hear the radio voices and music. It uses 3x AA battery (and lasts very long) which you can buy in every store, so no need to recharge like all the modern electronics. For the features this radio have, I would buy this again if it broke

Just get a crank radio. There are a bunch that do FM/AM/Weather band, have a built in battery, LED, a solar panel, and a crank.

Pic related is high rated on Amazon and is only $25. Fospower. Have had one for about a year and it is fine.

I have a very similar model. Its possibly the previous model of yours. Its very simple and has manual tuning. Leaning it against my motorcycle frame makes the reception better. The speaker isn't great if you turn it up too high but I think that's just due to how small it is. But it does the job and I've been using it for camping and fishing trips for years, it refuses to die.

I have a Petzl as headlamp, one or two 22000 mAh powerbanks (that thing you posted is 2000mAh) and when I'll do long trips that will require recharging these batteries I'll buy a small but good quality foldable solar panel.
If I spend $25 on an item that is a powerbank+light+radio+crank+solar panel I will inevitably end up with somethin that is far less capable at each specific task than a $25 item designed to do only one of these task.
Maybe that's enough for some people but I can afford the extra weight/bulk/price so I'd rather have the best items for the tasks.
