Just for car camping with the gf and dog, so weight isnt a huge issue.

It's technically and up-sized 2 man tent, but mine is plenty big enough for two people and a dog, plus big vestibules on either side.

Oh aussie? You can get a black wolf grasshopper3 for about $250 on ebay. It's a pretty big but light tent and good quality, I have a couple of other models.

In the same boat, but would prefer a two man with a little room at the feet for gear where my dog can sleep. Weight also an issue, would like to go as light as possible without stupid trekking poles.

Get one that can take the snow, because chances are you'll wish you did. Tarptent scarp is apparently pretty good in those conditions and also a good fine weather tent, with a reasonable price.

Look at it, it's a hubba ripoff and that design is well known for folding when the wind picks up. In australia, you get gale force winds out of nowhere any time of the year that will blow a tree down. Yet my non-retarded pole design tent stands firm.
