>>2427393Patches in a scouting sense can mean quite a few things but most fall into 3 categories:
>IDThese are your typical markers for what county your located, what troop your in and which nation you represent.
>MeritThese are badges that need to be earned by completing certain tasks and activities. Often they are collected on a sash, but can be placed on a uniform. Rank patches and religious knots also fit into this umbrella.
>Artwork/TradingMost patches fall into this category, they're general purpose is to look cool. Often these patches are purchased and traded like currency at certain events. There are collectors out there who put an absurd level of money into collecting and limited edition patches/ misprints can often fall in the 200-400USD range. (picrel is my personal trading kit)
If your not a scout, most patches are fall into that third category. Their cool pieces of art that can be used to decorate jackets, backpacks and anything you can sew them too.
I recently had the pleasure to purchase a 15 needle sewing machine and may need a few test designs. If you guys are interested pass me some designs.
