what places other than REI to look for used and discounted camping equipment? I still need to find a chair, stove, lightweight tent, tent footprint, etc.

craigslist (no joke. it's like workout equipment, people buy, use once, then it's a clothing rack)
look for local co-ops or swap meets in your area, they're pretty common.

but definitely don't do REI, unless you have more money than common sense.
