molded eva foam shoes like crocs, walmart crocs, hydro mocs, knockoff kanye west shoes, etc are also great but mostly for casual summer activity not for putting miles on. worth having around or in your trunk just in case.
the hard part is finding socks that work well in summer. the key to good summer socks is: wool is shit coolmax is leagues better, top of the sock needs to be thin and meshy, but you can't just use cheapo running socks because the bottom of the sock needs to be thick and padded. liner socks in the summer and for trail runners have limited choices. if you're blister or sweat prone and need them go with polypropylene, and also injinji is supposedly making shoe height liner socks this fall.
for swamps you still want to wear goretex boots, just go with the least insulated ones you can find.
