i just watched this recently. i liked it. it is quite slow and depending on tastes you may find the drama lame, but it has some beautiful shots of the pnw and the acting is good.

this may only be tangentially related. fair warning, very weird movie so ymmv. its johnny depp, and the whole score was improvised by willie nelson while watching an edit of the movie. synopsis is: western movie, man gets shot but doesnt die, wanders about, weird stuff happens. all black and white

ill try to think of some more throughout the day but i feel like theres not too many good /out/ movies except the obvious ones.

The first half is very /out/, and enjoyable, but the movie gets progressively worse toward the latter half. I don't love the movie, but it's calcified in my mind, regardless, mostly because the aesthetic appeals to me so much.

The Lighthouse shares some themes of /out/. Men, isolated, the elements being a menacing force. It is pretty artsy though.

Incidentally, does anyone remember a movie where some people decide to go do shrooms in the woods and one of their friends goes nuts and starts hunting them? I can barely remember it, let alone the name, but I swear I've seen it.
