What is the best state for an /out/ lifestyle? I know this thread is posted weekly but I wanted to share some maps to help decide. Light pollution is big for me, as I enjoy astronomy

Right now I live in the Hudson valley.
I have the Appalachian trail, skiing close by, solid amount of wildlife like bobcats and Turkey and occasionally a moose, as well as pretty great foliage. It gets pretty redneck up here too, despite being so close to NYC

Northern Arizona, south Utah, and Nevada for astronomy. Nevada has some of the best night skies you'll ever see.

My dad owns land on the outskirts of flagstaff. They have some of the most beautiful night skies in that area

I have family there and have spent a lot of time there, but that's not really northern Arizona to me. I'm talking a few hours north. But definitely worth living there for work and driving north on the weekends.

If your main concern is light pollution Sedona AZ is great. Lots of places out their have light pollution laws and the wash of stars looks amazing on the red striped mountains. Only problem might be tourists.

OP, what are your hobbies or goals for moving to an /out/ place? Are you looking to homestead, have easy access to hiking trails, good fishing/hunting, trying to get into some form of boating, wanting to go skiing every winter, or trying to live somewhere you can get a job outdoors?
Start with what you consider an "/out/ lifestyle" and maybe we can help narrow it down.

OP is just a /pol/ tourist teenager from the city who saw some instagram posts about "muh cottagecore trad lifestyle" and wants to larp without realizing there's no internet or electricity when you're off the grid
