ticks are nasty fuckers, I've gotten multiple bites even while wearing proper attire and sticking to trails. Some parts of the woods where I live seem to have more and other areas are pretty safe, so I just avoid the tick infested trails until next season.

Gnomes are real. From your list they're the only creatures I know for real that exist. And no I am not a schizo. I don't even know how to tell this story, because it sounds so ridiculous, but it is genuinely one of the most frightening experiences of my life. Every time I think about it, I get cold chills.
I was probably 7 or 8 years old, sitting on my bedroom floor, playing with LEGO. It was morning and I had the window blinds open, so the room was filled with sunlight. I distinctly remember looking at the dark space under my bed, and thinking to myself how silly I was to be afraid of something being under there at night.
(I'm legit having a hard time typing this because the memory is so clear and horrific.) Anyways, there I was playing with LEGOs and feeling very bold and grown-up in daylight. I called out in a mocking tone,
>"come out, come out, wherever you are!"
And then a grinning, devilish face popped out from under my bed. I will never forget that face. The twisted little face of an old man with red skin and a rough white beard, grinning an inhuman grin. My reaction was just like the one in the video - instant terror. I am proud to say, that I kicked that face with all my might as I scrambled to my feet; but he still smiled. I rushed out of my room shrieking, into my mom's arms. When I told her what happened, she looked worried and said it was a dream. But I knew it wasn't, because when I went back in the room, the LEGO house I had been building was still there half-finished. I think she knew it wasn't a dream, either.
Probably sounds like a retarded creepypasta, but it's a real memory. I understand it could have actually been a dream somehow, or my mind playing tricks, but I really don't believe it was. I think I asked to see something and got exactly what I wanted. I don't necessarily believe in gnomes, but I can certainly believe that something took on the form of gnome to frighten me as a child for my arrogance.

encountered a sasquatch in the northern cascades last august.

it was a psychedelic experience locking eyes with this thing. sitting about 70-80 yards away up in the brush. staring at me.
it felt like hours but it must’ve been a minute total.
i pulled my phone out while keeping eyes locked with this creature.
took a 15 second video before the shock and awe wore off and the most intense dread/fear washed over me and i turned and walked away.
after this i somehow lost the trail and became lost on this mountain.
i was slipping and sliding down this mountain for over an hour, all the while being followed by tree knocks.
this is sourdough mountain near Lake Diablo in the Northern Cascade mountains.
it’s a highly intense hike, over 12 miles in total.
i was the last person on that mountain and there was no human behind me.
it was a deeply intense event in my life and hardly a day goes by now without thinking about that day and what happened on that mountain.

logically i should have continued filming and even walked up closer to it, but in that moment there was no logical thinking. i was operating on pure animal instinct.
i rerun the events of that day over and over in my head and my behavior was completely irrational. i filmed for 15 seconds after staring it for maybe 20-30 seconds before pulling my phone out.
it felt like an hour. it was a completely and utterly foreign feeling i’ve never had before or since.
i saw a black bear on the trail, i came within 10 feet of a giant white mountain goat, but none of those encounters made me feel the way i did with this thing.

Are you sure? I camped by myself in a national forest this past weekend and every night there were trees knocking all around me and from different distances every time. The knocks moved around so much so I assumed it was a woodpecker. The knocks didn't concern me as much as the howling coyotes. Damn those guys sound horrific.

No I’m hiking the PNT so I’ll enter North Cascades on Friday then walk 150 miles to Ross Lake. Next real town I’ll be in is Concrete. Then I’ll be around Mt Baker, probably going off trail to hit the hot springs there. Olympics sometime in early September at this rate

I was doing the Goat Creek Trail near Mt St Helens a few weeks ago, broke camp just before dawn at Dead Man’s Lake. I was a bit too groggy in the early morning to be creeped out by it but there was something making the weirdest whooping noises when I walked off the trails into the woods a bit to grab my bear can and when I actually headed away from the lake after breaking camp. Got at least two instances of feeling chilled, couldn’t tell if something was pricking my instincts or if it was just morning chill. The weird noises stopped after dawn though.

I didn’t really realize that the whooping noises didn’t match anything I’d expect to hear until a few hours of hiking later, lol. Didn’t see anything though, just a shitton of bugs.

yeah i didn’t hear any whooping but the tree knocks were so incredibly loud.
i picked up a log and smacked it as hard as i could against a tree and the noise it made was pitifully quiet compared to the knocks i was hearing.
and curiously, the sasquatch encounter only happened when i got separated from my hiking group, i met an asian couple and we were the last 3 people to summit the mountain. on the way back i fell behind because i was taking pictures and enjoying the astounding natural scenery.
i’m not going to lie, i was really hoping to see one of these things on this trip, and when it actually happened i was not prepared whatsoever for the experience.
this thing could have easily walked up to and ripped me into pieces if it wanted to. i was totally and completely helpless if it wanted to do me harm.
then getting lost on the mountain, 3 hours hike from the bottom, as the sun was beginning to set and the shadows got longer and darker, knowing there are these things behind me… it was extremely unsettling. i left that mountain convinced that there is more to this reality than just the physical world.

I went to Mt. Saint Helens back in late May on the crater side and found this track, its small but its bigger than my shoe which is a size 14 men's. this was my first "encounter" with any /out/ related sooky stuff if you can call it that. It really stumped me

Were you hiking to Windy Falls from there or something? How was hiking across the Talus Plain, super easy or very difficult or fairly not-an-issue? I’m planning to do the Loowit Trail here in a bit but the stretch between Windy Ridge and the Toutle all has to be covered in one day (no camping allowed in the blast zone) so if covering the Talus area is a bitch…well idk I’ll probably still do it but I’d probably target it to be the first section I hike rather than the last or middle.

it’s a pretty grueling hike.
i had the encounter near sourdough camp halfway up the mountain right before the tree line gives way to the alpine meadows.
i’m not fully convinced that sasquatch are just flesh and blood creatures. i think they may have human DNA. the things eyes were intelligent unlike any dog or bear or animal. just like a humans eye.

this, try picardin, specifically the lotion. lotion makes it really easy to get 100% coverage on exposed skin, I've had really good luck with it.
