I clean my pot with sand while backpacking. Let’s assume it’s crawling with every common parasite, bacteria, and viruses. Those things are now on the surface of my pot.
What methods do you know of to treat water to mitigate risks of infection from those things? Well, for backpacking we usually filter it, and a small minority of people use other methods like chemicals or UV lights.
What method of water treatment am I leaving out, but is considered the most effective? Also, how are most backpacking meals cooked?
