>Lots of people climb with helmets
I don't worry so much about shit coming down on top of me, but rather hitting my head on something (camera/dish/antenna bracket, structure arm) as i'm ascending. Eye pro too.
>Try holding a small edge with gloves, your just making your hands worse
Burrs on a weld, sharp edge on angle iron or climb peg, popping a cover off a radio not knowing whether there's insects inside or not...
>Friction devices for rock climbing lock very quickly
My ID stops quick too, but i'm still wearing gloves
>Those are never used alone, so in case one unclips there are others underneath to catch you
rather put trust in my anchors than "hopefully it won't unclip"
>not painful, often not even uncomfortable, climbing ropes strech a ton
which is also weird as fuck to me. I have shock packs to absorb that force. Rather have static ropes that allow me to control the load. Never had to test a shock pack, and hope I don't. Still respecting fall factors as I climb.
>Cool image btw, what's it like doing that kind of work?
Has its moments. Get to go places and see things most people never get to see. The gear, insurance, training, and travel gets real expensive. Lots of hazards to manage.
