Soup guys, this probably is a bit weird subject but I don't know any better board for it.

I want to learn about rocks.

What are common rock types on ground, where/how different rocks appear, where are rocks that are common for building found...

Where can I learn more? Ideally I'd also like to see pictures. I went to wikipedia and goddammit there's so many rocks with names I've never heard of.

As for why, I was making a shitty block-based videogame, and suddenly realized that stone is always called stone in these games. But there's no such stone as "stone" in real life, so I started looking into it for more muh realism, and now I'm both confused and intrigued. I find it very interesting.
