Does anyone know where abandoned mines are in Colorado that my friend and I can explore?
We are experienced, and will bring back cool pictures to post.

You can try mindat.org. They list some old mines as "Development Status: Past Producer"

I've never gone mineshaft spelunking, but I can bring my .22 if we meet any monsters down in the caves.

Yes, but you don't wanna go deaf shooting in a cave either. I said .22 because you can shoot those subsonic and suppressed and you'll only hear the gun action, not the bullet.

Honestly, in cave fighting melee may be the superior option.

In all seriousness I may do this one day and the amount of equipment I've even considered is costly but necessary for safety.

.45ACP is subsonic by default, and also was the preferred choice of US “Tunnel Rats” in Vietnam; would definitely prefer it over a .22lr and modern threaded autoloaders/cans exist for it.

Suppressed use is one of the contexts .45ACP actually has the advantage over other cartridges.

I'm sure it does. It's not about having the balls to explore, it's about having the self control to turn back when things get too dangerous.
This is not some ride at an amusement park. People die doing this. These mines are 100+ years old with zero maintenance. Also remember these old miners were way more concerned about the gold then the were about safety.

just go on ebay, carbide lamps arent rare but new carbide pellets can be a pain to get ahold of in some places as its really easy to make explosives with them.
