>>2453672I am 6'3, 240 (beer gut, not flab). I got it in XL, which is my normal size. The length is perfect for my height. Yeah, it's thin enough to get something else over it. I don't think I could get a midlayer under it, though I may have, but being in California, it's been months since it's been cold enough to wear (even then, only high up), so I don't remember.
>>2453677If it's not too cold where you are, or if you're moving, a basic midlayer would be great.
I have this, and have worn it buried in snow, and it's my backpacking "warm up" staple.
https://www.mammut.com/us/en/products/1014-00821-50502/nair-ml-jacket-menFits very nicely, dries fast, thin. If it's cold where you are, look at down. It packs down very well, but it is expensive. I can only wear it if I'm not moving around, so at camp after dark and early in the morning only. Once we start moving, I just go to my T-shirt. Good choice on DT, I got rid of all my other socks after getting merinowoolpilled.
I'm assuming you mean warm jacket, not waterproof. We get random rainshowers in the Sierra, that are over faster than you can pull out your jacket, so I only carry a pack cover to keep my shit dry. My clothes dry out plenty fast. For a WP jacket, I do have a cheap Marmot Eco Precip or somesuch. I only really wear it when it's pouring at the house in winter and I need to move my sump pump around.
