Although I'm rural and there are two small impoundments and two creeks running through my town, they've been virtually stripped of all but fingerlings due to unemployed trailer trash who literally have nothing better to do all week than pull out every fish the trucks dump out (usually all in the same place on Tuesday).

There are additional fishing destinations somewhat further out (a 30-60ish minute drive), but these too have been stripped clean.

Normally this is a manageable phenomenon, but the pandemic really kicked the trailer trash factor into high gear. The local fish populations are pressured to the point of absurdity.

Basically, I have to either hike for over an hour locally to remote and inaccessible waters, or drive over an hour cross-state to one of several destinations (Whitetop Laurel, the New River, Claytor Lake, etc.) that actually still have fish.

The point is that I can't fish after work because of the travel time to get anywhere that hasn't been Cletused.

That being said, I'd rather tie flies or something than play a fishing or hunting simulator.

I live soft plastics, they’re the best thing I have for largemouth and crappie.
My favorite is the texas rig, wacky, and Ned.
At Walmart I’ve seen some of those strike king skirt jigs that come with matching trailers in those little plastic boxes. Have you had any luck with those? I’ve had luck with the football jig + a senko or a lizard but not the swimming jig or pro model jig.
I usually fish my local neighborhood pond, but ever since I went fly fishing in the beautiful Wyoming mountains I’ve wanted to go back more that anything.

my weekdays go like this:

my weekends i actually go out. those 2 hours after work i don't really have time to go anywhere. that is the prime time for fishing/hunting sims. sega bass fishing and death stranding is where its at.
