I was out in Boundary Waters with 3 friends 2 weeks ago, we were looking at the stars for 2 nights in a row. We had a green laser so we could point to the stars, and we all saw some weird shit that I dont quite have an explanation for.
Right above our heads there was a bright star with an orange/redish hue that was moving erratically. It would make sudden 90 degree turns. It was as if a bright light was hung on a string above our heads swaying in the wind. The movement was hard to perceive, but it was there. The 4 of us were not imaging it. I dont know what constellation it was near, but we all saw it two nights in a row. Back home im in the boonies, but its been cloudy so I have not been able to spot it.
The best theory I have is it was one of those Google Internet balloons that sits in the same spot.
Its movement was repetitive, it seemed like it just tangled above our heads. it was brighter than the surrounding stars. based on its movement it could not have been a geostationary satellite, or anything too far in the sky cause it would have to move incredibly fast. i could not capture it in a photo.
anyone ever seen something similar?
