>>2456328OP here, I lived in West Virginia, the mountain have an old soul to them and hidden throughout is that Appalachia culture. But… the hikes (especially in the summer time) can be far more intense and often require orientation skills and a machete if you wanna go deep inna woods. Both are amazing but it was a shock to me being above the tree line and floating around in a crystal clear lake so deep I couldn’t dive for the bottom while only 30 minutes from Salt Lake City (my group was so isolated we only ever saw one other person on Labor Day weekend)
