Why don't westerners just eat the bugs?

Specifically, you can go in the woods right now and flip over a rock and find hordes of earthworms and beatles and other shit. It's literally free food. A cursory google search says earthworms alone are actually an extremely nutritious source of protein plus micronutrients. In asian countries they cook them, so what's the problem? Why aren't you getting free worms in the woods right now? Are you a scared little bitch who is too good for the less glamorous fruits of nature?
