more bumbles, less wasps

No.2457268 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
Hey /out/. Some goldenrod grew in our yard this year and all the local pollinators love it. The visitors seem to be about 40% flies, 45% wasps, 5% honeybees, and 10% bumblebees. I'd like to increase the ratio in favor of the bumblebees just because I like them. Is there anything specific I should do? Should I be killing the wasps? I don't particularly mind them but some people have told me that wasps will attack and chase off bumblebees and if that's the case I'd gladly get rid of them. I much prefer the slow fuzzy puffballs to these aggressive fucks.
Alternatively, should I try finding the bumblebees nest and leaving some food for them? I know they don't overwinter and it's too late to plant something by them but some sugar water would probably be appreciated.
I live in IL if it matters.
