>>2460748>>2460858>yes. if you haven't been personally, I assume you don't get the scale right. that's not grass, they are tall trees. meanwhile, in the west, I can see you climbing your "big mountain" from miles away with binoculars, no sense of dense wilderness where one could get lost.That's a great point, actually. You only see glamor shots of the Rockies taken at a significant distance (and from ground level, ironically enough), because from up close they just look like open-pit quarries.
Even when you're hiking the Rockies, the view is of somewhere else in the distance, not of where you actually are.
