Hey /out/
Did a 3 day trip up to Emigrant Wilderness this weekend. A lot of stuff went wrong but we had a blast anyway. Thought I would do a little write up on it and dump some photos. This trip was notable as it was the first time I attempted to plan a (semi) off-trail route. I think I am spoiled for hiking on trail now desu. I also went with one other person who had never gone camping before and they were an absolute trooper despite all the unforseen challenges.
We started at Crabtree Trailhead with a goal of making camp at Chewing Gum Lake. Due to traffic we arrived an hour before sunset and had to hike in with headlamps. We were lucky enough to have a full moon that night and due to some smoke, it was a brilliant orange color. Very spooky atmosphere cresting the pass to see a valley below you with the moon and wispy clouds guiding your way. Finally made camp around 2200. It was a remarkably still evening so the lake reflection was incredible (picrel is first nights camp).
