Very embarrassing that nobody has answred OP correctly.
Ground sheets:
Rocky terrain - Tyvek sheet (off brand is fine)
Normal terrain - Polycryo (DUCK brand MAX STRENGTH HEAVY DUTY window insulation kit)
Protecting your sleeping pad:
(ground sheets don't really do this)
1/8 foam or thinlight between the pad and ground sheet.

Plastic square is fine tho. Tyvek is lighter and durable enough. But plastic squares don't make crinkling sounds when you're trying to sleep, for light sleepers.
