The bottom is flat, the top edge is flat and curved like an airplane wing so it glides and flies extra far. The curve is already in a stick when you split it down the middle and so is the flat edge, you just have to shave a bit of the wood off.
Their ideal length is around as long as your arm but there can be shorter or longer ones too.
To use them you throw them sidearm, you have to sneak up to within 30 feet of what you want to hit and throw them with a sidearm throw. Just throw them at things until your arm is too tired to do it anymore, take some days to rest, throw again. The throwing is instictual and by throwing at trees, stumps, and animals in the woods you'll just learn how to throw over time. It's surprisingly easy.
Also not all of them have to be curved like that, they also did just throw round sticks with zero carving done on them.
To make them you simply find a hardwood log with a curve you like in it that isn't too thick (so you don't have to shave off too much), once you've split it off you make the bottom flat and the top curved. Wa-la, if the log is still wet the wood will be heavier and not fly as far but it will still be good enough and will only fly further and faster as the stick ages.
