electricity and water may be out for as much as a week. stockpile clean water. or buy a water filter. buy canned food. you should try to have enough such supplies to last a week. too late for that now though.
you ought to buy sufficient plywood (or even better, corrugated metal sheets) to cover your windows. or, if you're a richfag, replace your windows with hurricane glass. also too late for this now. if windows are not shuttered, move electronics away from windows. put your computer in a plastic trash bag to keep it dry.
if there is a tornado, hide in the smallest room in your house, preferably one without a window, and sit underneath the doorway. if you somehow have a basement in florida, hide there instead. nothing more you can do besides that, tornadoes suck, but are also rare, and rarer still are ones that are powerful enough to do anything more than break your windows. hurricanes I think are too chaotic for a proper twister
