>>2470815this was about the normie masses, not you or me, and the point was what little natural instinct they had left was already redirected into consumerism - the virtual practice of appearing outdoorsy for others online, not a genuine return to nature, a degrading substitute like porn to real love
>>2470973i admire your hopefulness and don't intend to sound too blackpilling but what even the recent lockdowns have showed me is that people would rather live in misery thinking they're heroes than admit the bamboozle
i simply don't see any way consumerism could lead to anything else except more consumerism, it's a vicious cycle where the senseless the world appears because of your shallow habits, the deeper you'll delve into them for some pleasure
>>2470983quite insightful but i'm not against buying stuff, i'm against that artificial dopamine rush created by thinking you got the "right" tools instead of actually doing the thing and enjoying learning
it may be cultural but i can't quite relate to the online part, i do appreciate people who inspire me to learn new things but i wouldn't just go buy what they recommend, i'd still go for the second cheapest option and see how it goes (i did that with a ~200$ laptop about 10 years ago that lasted me all throughout highschool and college, a ~50$ chinesium smartphone that served me well over 5 years, a ~5$ supermarket portable radio i drag around, so on, not mentioning all the second hands)
my grandparents are old country folks and they rarely bought anything from the city, we'd have these weekly markets on the outskirts of the village (and much larger carnivals inside on certain religious holidays) and all equipment they had they got from there, all no names, probably chinesiums or local made and they work great
not saying they're retarded and don't know or appreciate what a fiskars or husqvarna is, but in shoveling pigshit it rarely makes a differences and even if i brought them one they'd probably put it in storage
