>>2476852Well, I guess it counts as on-topic since it is a rolling shelter kek. I'm a yuro, so I can't help you with any Canadian details, but I'd be happy to answer any questions.
The basic info is: box is only about 2x3m, but its enough for a two-stove kitchenette with a sink, a 90L top-loading double-compartment fridge, a separate WC/shower, and a transversal bed for the wife and I, with space underneath for the (big) dog and all the food, water, battery banks and so on. We'll see how kids will fit in there - I can always take the dog and sleep outside to make room for the woman and child(ren) inside.
If I was just by myself and had a similar amount of cash, I would probably do what you're describing. A rolling hangar carrier for a bike or ATV, that also serves as a basecamp and supply train. Take the smaller vehicle out on tent/bivy adventures, retreat to the truck when the weather is shit to refuel, restock food and water, etc.
My main advice is to keep everything supermodular in the truck. Don't bother making everything all neat and finished, because you're gonna wanna make mods as you gain experience with it. Keep it simple to begin with. We lived fulltime in ours for a year, and had several major upgrade projects along the way.
