>>2475454>>2475457I lived in Melbourne for ~15 years and got trapped in a toxic relationship like a fool. My belongings got whittled down more and more to the point where everything fit in a backpack and a big plastic tote. My auntie died and left me an offensive old yellow Saab 9-3 convertible in her will, and I struggled to find street parking in Essendon for a few months before putting the tote in the tiny boot and driving off into the sunset one day. I went north and east for a few days and bought a cheap caravan for ~2k. I didn't have a tow hitch but the local mechanic was a Saab nut and just had one laying around. I fixed it up and lived in a caravan park for 1.5 years. Bounced from there to a huge old Adams Family farmhouse with a bat colony in the ceiling to my current house which is an 1860's-ish single bedroom miners cottage
>>2475663Hell no. I make less money and work more hours, but it's the first time I've lived alone. Like from the ages of 17-30 I always had housemates or lived with partners, but now I'm in my own space with simple things like matching cutlery and appliances without weird multi-coloured cute-animal themed shit. The Saab lives in the garage and I bought a 4WD single cab Hilux for cash. I own multiple kayaks and have them hanging off the side of the garage and have a river across the street to throw them in.
Not my personal blog but no, I don't regret it at all. Life gets very lonely but I have old friends and family come out of the woodwork and suddenly want to stay with me for weeks at a time for the wildlife and scenery and snow
