I've never met a single ranger that gets government provided housing. Most of the ones I've met either squat in their trailer somewhere, or they live with their parents/relatives, or they live in a ski bum "dorm" with a half dozen other people.

Yeah, you absolutely do need a job that provides a livable wage if you don't want to larp as a homeless person who works as a forest custodian.

Rent's gone up 30% in Memphis and home rental prices have doubled (Both in the last 2 years), but even here in the other counties of West TN the shit's expensive. There are no jobs here but because of remote worker migration, rent has doubled. 800/week is going to mean half your income each month is rent and gas. Not insurance, or food, or anything else. *Just* rent and gas. Good luck saving for a house on $21/hr before even that's taxed.
