I was looking for a collapsible fishing pole to add to my bug out bag, and was wondering about good brands, brands I should stay away from, etc.

Sorry I can't be more help but here's mine.

The pair are labled Roddylites and light up LEDs in the reels whenspur.

The collapser is labeled JohnsonSC 1000 on the reel. I got it for $1 USD at a yard sale.

Have not used them yet.

Requires a learning curve, but generally yes I agree. This is gear that isn't fragile and does NOT need to be babied when packing into a spot.

For a bug out bag I don't see why you wanna go the rod/reel route. Just pack some terminal tackle and hand fish.

The whole collapsible rig just seem more ideal for people hiking in to fish places. If you really want something that packs down small St Croix makes a 4 or 5 piece rod. Get a hard case and it would work great.

You cast a little bit differently, that's all. Yeah actually I took mine out fishing for flounder without any experience with it and I was sniping them. I can cast mine almost as far as a 6.5 foot rod.
