The biggest reasons for us moving were the weather (it’s balls hot 9 months out of the year), the constant threat of hurricanes and tornadoes, the crime in the city, less accessible outdoor recreation, low standard of living, and one of the highest population densities in the South (6,400 people per square mile, population of 140k, zero green space, no public transit to relieve traffic). So it wasn’t solely for outdoor recreation, but that played a big part.
We moved to Portland, OR, (Sandy, acktchually) and no matter how much the idiot locals complain about the crime or traffic, it’s a paradise compared to Nig Orleans.
