>>2482169Tell me about it. I started out with a molle pack that weighs 9lbs in itself. Then i went to osprey rook at 5 pounds (still use this for heavy loads, the trampoline is unbeatable). Now i mostly use a granite gear pack at 1.5 lbs
This fucking guy at my work is very into dave Canterbury. He's obsessed with the idea of being able to fire multiple types of cartridges out of the same gun. But i don't think he even shoots or owns any ammo at all. All this idle planning and no actual field use. It is stupid, it's just a larp
Same guy claims to believe as i do that the money system is going down, but he buys like 2 oz at a time while I'm buying 20, and he makes way more money than me.
It's annoying, retards are annoying. When you're at a high level, most people look retarded, it's hard to relate. I've been on outdoor discord channels and it's just so riddled with normies it's untenable. There's no place for me on the internet, my place is outdoors.
So anyway, the dave Canterbury people think that they're going to be roasting weenies over a fire (that they made with a heavy axe or hatchet) with a tripod pot stand with a 100g iron doohickey from Amazon, and they're just going to start living outside for years. They haven't really thought it through that the first thing you're going to do is run - if you do have to "bug out", you're not going to get very far with a 50lb pack and shitkicker military boots. No matter how tough you are, you'll get way farther with less.
I kinda want to take this guy backpacking, but i know it would be pretty annoying. It would be very funny to document his learning experience.
He was talking about raincoats the other day and he said to make sure you get one that has a vent flap on the back (like the old style non breathable raincoats. I'm thinking, this guy doesn't even know about waterproof breathable membranes. He even talked about oil cloths and making your own tarp. I'm very supportive of cheapskate outdoor 1/
