Idk, do you need it hooded? I wear hats so I've got no use for hoods. Buy one with a removable hood if you're unsure.

Taking gloves off so I can adjust the waist sinch in the shell pockets for air flow then zipping vents open and putting gloves back on is a issue for me. Awkward layering is not.

depends on how you're layering and what ur wearing retard if youre using a softshell with another piece of clothing with a hood it makes sense but if you use your winter softshell as a rain jacket obviously you want a hood just use logic

You can wear anything when its just kind of cold and nothing is going on. That's the only thing softshells are good for. for casual strolling and use around camp. There dont excel at anything other than being durable and sweaty.
