Gonna use this thread to ask... can't I just take an old bedsheet and sew it to size? These liners cost like €30+ for cotton, €70+ for silk. And knowing that for entry level prices you get the chinest chinesium I imagine it's gonna be shit. The design for these is pretty simple, I'd just have to fold a sheet in two and sew the bottom with a sewing machine.

I used one once during JRTC at Polk. I used a cheap polyester one from Walmart, It kinda sucked because it made it wasn't cut perfectly for the MSS. However, I was soaking wet and had to bed down. The liner soaked up most of the water and mud from my body. Preventing my sleeping bag from getting wrecked for the rest of the field exercise. I threw it into a trash pile the next morning because I had no way of drying it but it did it's job.

Anything you can do with a sewing machine. You can do repairs, make new things off templates and salvage materials from broken things. My stuff sacks are made form the fabric of a large broken umbrella. Not proper dry bags, but water will run off the fabric which is good enough unless submerged. I used paracord for the drawstrings. If you manage to get your hands on quality fabric in bulk you can make stuff that is going to outlast all the branded stuff. People think all fabric is the same but there's cotton and cotton. Even thread has such a massive range of quality. There's cotton thread that will make your hands bleed before you manage to snap it.

Silk liners are good, much lighter than any other material. Mine is like 115grams and when it's warm out I don't need a bag/quilt. It's nice to use on longer trips to keep your pad and bag/quilt cleaner for longer

I do. I have 2 - 1 mainly for hygiene, 1 for warmth in colder seasons. I initially bought my hygiene one to use in shelters. Shelters over here often have years-old blankets which a rotating series of dudes have slept in, so a liner feels cleaner.

A UL hammock cost something like 80 bucks for a sub 11oz, just order some technical respirable fabric, gonna cost you 30 freedom money. A hammock is essentialy a rectangle and a rope on the shortest sides
A tarp is the same thing, buy some silpoly, sew two length together so you have a wider rectangle and tadah you got yourself a tarp that you can customize to your taste

For warmth i think it's more comfy to just throw a fleece blanket over the sleeping bag. As for hygiene, yes, i have one as well, cotton because it feels best.

I recently bought a cotton liner for the Dutch Klu M90 Winter sleeping bag. It was like 3 bucks here in Germany.
Just look for Military Surplus Sleeping bag liners. Depending on size and fit, you can use them for your own sleeping bag.

liners are nice to keep sleeping bag clean if ur a lazy fuck like me and dont like maintaining gear that much, when body oils get into the down in the sleeping bag they wont expand as much as they can after compression because the oils stick the down together

Can confirm this is the comfiest, warmest and cheapest option.
The stuff you buy for 50$+ are all trying to be ultralight crap and they're all basically see-through so 0 real insulation like they pretend to be and the materials are icky if you go commando like I also prefer.
