>>2484662Basically this (except the murder part). I climb, I ski, I hike, I freedive. I have used my GoPro on all of these occasions because a) it's lightweight, b) it can take a beating, and sure, c) I can mount it on my skis/shoulder/head to get nice shots.
Maybe the dude on /p/ is exaggerating, maybe not. But if some fuckheads will chew me out for taking some video for myself, to relive a great moment, just because they think I'm some faggot zoomer influencer bro trying to get clout by posting my mediocre performance online and begging for donations, that's their fucking problem, not mine. >>2483711 says, if it inconveniences others, don't do it - but if the presence of a plastic cube with lenses and circuitry on one of my skis inconveniences some asshat "pros", frankly that's on them, not me. If said cube turns me into an insufferable dick who hogs the greatest runs, loudly makes "shoutouts to my fans", or tries to show off for the camera when I'm out of my league, putting myself in danger, then yes, it becomes an inconvenience to others. But that's not the fault of the GoPro, that's the fault of someone being a tryhard.
tl;dr use your GoPro all you want, tell anyone who gives you shit to judge you on your behavior, not your gear
