>>2483869>Why do the woods freak some people out so much?I always love this question, its asked by cityfaggs often when in conversation.
>So lets give a bit of backstory kay.I live near the woods in a semi-village, all of the ammenities are not far, jist walk 20-25 minutes and npw you are in small town.
>Now to answer the question. The woods represent the unknown beauty of the world or terror, depends on how you look at it, especially if you go off the beaten track and venture into the "actual" woods. Its a sort of exitment of adventure mixed in with adrenaline (((fear of the unknown))) type of feel, besides mainstream "media", more so stories and legends talk of different creatures and mosters lurking and since our image of the forest is a huge expansive place, we become afraid to get lost in a place which is unfamiliar to us. Now during the day shit aint scary, tame compared when its night, now I've never got lost in the forest, but if you ever do, hope its during the day.
>Story time again anon.So I went for a walk in the forest at night, planned it to be just 30 minute refresher before going to sleep, so didnt bring much, just a small snack, warm clothes and a flashlight with some spare batteries. Haf way through the beaten path I encounter a gurguling sound of some sorts, the flashlight wasnt bright enough, so I coudnt see the creature, my guess would be a fox or a stray dog, my adrenaline spyked and I ran like a fucking retard in the opposite direction. Once I recovered my senses and knew the creature wasnt chasing me, I slowed down to take a breath, luckly the side I was running to was the same road that lead home. The forest is the scariest during at night because most creatures are awake and its harder to see.
>TL:DRForests scare us because our subconcuos mind finds the forest to be part of that "unknown" category of things.
