Recently got back into hiking after a very longbreak- ive done long hikes on fairly challenging terrain with just regular running shoes.
Of course sometimes i find them a bit slippery- so i now want to buy actual hiking shoes.
My question is- i am thinking of doing year round hiking. DO i really need ankle boots in general, or are trail runners just fine? In addition, do i need a separate pair of hiking boots for the winter that are cold rated, or could i just wear my regular winter boots with some crampons for example?
Please let me know.
