Where in Michigan? Sleeping Bear is cool. Manistee national forest is great to remote camp in.

Pickney state rec area, there’s a hike-in campground called blind lake I think. About 1/3 of the spots have hammock posts, which is nice.

Union Pier is a nice beach spot to hangout at if that's your thing. There's an insanely good restaurant nearby there too, or so my mum says.

Ludington to Mackinac is peak MI.
UP if you hate all evidence of humans and are willing to trade that for flatness.
Manistee river trail is most popular overnight hike
Sleeping Bear's various trails are most scenic (do August)
There's tons of state forests, but you're usually within a mile or two of someone's property or other campers, it's not super remote but as soon as you get away from campgrounds it's pretty isolated.
The best thing about MI is its lakes and waterways. Get yourself a boat/kayak/canoe and have fun.

Enjoy the next 8 months...
