The American West's beauty and popularity was actually its downfall. When your /out/ is so great that it attracts people from all around the world, it's almost inevitable you'll get vandalism on basically all your monuments and plaques.

Meanwhile in my "flyover shithole" which consistently ranked lowest on the "best states for /out/" map, I have literally never seen vandalism like I saw living out west.

Simply put, westerners made a big oopsie by allowing just anyone to go into their /out/, because most humans don't deserve to witness such beauty.
