>>2489078I've seen National Forest markers in unusual places when doing summer mountaineering. Not sure why the USGS or BLM decided to stick them in permanently uninhabited areas that see maybe a couple visitors a year, but the signs are there. I've seen a few signs get knocked out by avalanches too. They seem to be pretty lazy about where they place the signs, but that's the government for you, I guess. I also walked a road once where there were Nation Forest boundary markers about every ten feet on the side of the road. Fantastic use of taxpayer funding.
