Hi /out/, I have a bit of a pigeon problem on my balcony. There's shit everywhere. What do you recommend I do to stop them shitting on my balcony?
None of the obvious stuff (e.g. solar powered fake head-turning owl) on Amazon have very redeeming reviews.

What country are you in? I've used an air rifle for shooting them when I lived in London but might not be legal where you are.

Its a tuned Weihrauch HW95K. Probably a bit overkill for some close range pigeons. A Crossman 2250 Ratcatcher would do the job, their cheap too.

Remove clutter from your balcony; empty balconies are less attractive for them
If they still come back try to apply string near their perches, it trips them and makes surfaces unappealing to them. This is a technique that is often used to keep herons out of koi ponds
Use pinwheels and reflective tape to scare them. Farmers do this to keep sparrows at bay

Most of the flock has been scared off. Roastie, Garlic and Butter are allowed and now looking chunky. They get close too. Young and firm. Nets are evil and cause stressful situation with all birds that get stuck in there.

Nothing more wrong has ever been said.
Manmade places should contain pathways for nature and be wildlife-friendly.
The key to conservation is interconnectivity between habitats. There's more value in having lots of anthropized habitats that are still suitable for native animals and plants than a few completely pure and unspoiled natural parks that are isolated from each other.
