I live in a rural area and my dad has always let our dogs off their leashes when we were in the woods and they never got shot. But then again I live in the north and people seem to care more about dogs up here than in the south.

I noticed that a lot of people in the woods are with their dogs and all of these YouTube videos. Nobody is ever with their cats. Personally I am more of a cat person. Am I just fucked here? How could I reasonably live in a little isolated cabin every weekend and bring my cat along?
