i saw snow pants at walmart for $40 not sure if they are any good. they didn’t feel super warm but maybe they will do the job

You don't actually need specialized snow gear. I wear long johns, sweatpants, and jeans on bottom with a long sleeved shirt, pullover, and medium coat on top. Adjust for the weather, of course. The key is in the layers.

It looks cool.
I went skiing for the first time this year and I literally wore a down jacket and chino pants with leggings underneath them, and some proper skiing gloves. I was absolutely warm enough too, worked like a charm. People didn't make fun of me I actually had a couple guys come up and say it looked badass to be out on the ski fields in 'normal clothes'. I even saw a guy out there wearing a pikachu onesie. Ski gear isn't necessary unless you are really serious but I stuck to the beginner slopes and it was great.
