Are these sort of bags suitable for a 1 or 2 day camping trip?

I've never been before so I just need an idea for whether or not all my gear will fit.

No, I haven't purchased the bag yet. I don't want to spend money on it if it won't work for me.

I'm only asking if someone has used a similar one before so I know if they're any good for me.

What sort of camping trip? Winter or summer? Are you just hiking or are you carrying extras like fishing equipment?

I would recommend not buying a MOLLE covered dildo monument, but if you already own it and it fits your stuff, then go for it.

Also, what's the listed volume on that pack? 40L is okay if it's summer and/or you already know what you're doing, otherwise it's nice to have 60 or more.

I'd be going sometime between April-June. I won't be carry anything for fishing, though. I'll need a tent, sleeping bag, food, no clothes except spare socks.

For a 2 day camping trip, count 35L at worst. If you need more, you're doing it wrong.

If you want to know whether all your gear will fit, it's pretty simple, bring your stuff to a store and try to fit it into backpacks available. No one should annoy you.

So you must be wondering "what kind of store sells this backpack?" Well not that you should care, you'd better buy an actual hiking pack than some military style backpack, it's going to be better suited to this activity, but most importantly, more comfortable and a lot lighter, something you'll come to see as the most important thing once you spend an entire day carrying it on your carrying.

Military stuff is built for very hard conditions which probably are already harder than their purpose, and as such, they're made of very heavy fabrics. They are also designed to be accessed quite often, so they have tons of pockets which you won't need because you're not going to be on a patrol but simply hiking, and can thus stop whenever you want, and that's a lot of unnecessary weight. And finally, companies making them lack the advanced technologies used by hiking brands to make them comfortable and properly hold their load, so they're much more simpler and basic, but less comfortable as well.

It's really useful for my deadbeat lifestyle but the straps are terrible and there is no ventilation for your back
Also the waterproofing on the inside has started to perish after about 2 years and flake off but I do use it pretty hard
Also it dont have a chest strap so it gets pretty annoying after walking for about half a day
Its good if you are just bumming around but I wouldnt take it camping
You can fit a lot of stuff in it though, I like the way that it just opens all the way out but the 2nd largest pocket is kind of useless
For the price it aint bad though
Next time I get a bag Ill get something similar in design but with fewer pockets and maybe made out of proper canvas

I would strongly recommend against cheap Chinese airsoft shit. Quality aside, they will be uncomfortable for anything more than a short day hike. Also despite their claimed volumes I would be surprised if you could get much else in them after a sleeping bag.

Go to your nearest outdoor shop (Cotswolds etc). Tell them you want a rucksack for overnighters. Ask them to grab an average tent and an average synthetic sleeping bag from their shelves to size up different options (do not strap these onto the outside). They should also have weighted bags there, add a 10kg one maybe in addition to the tent + sleeping bag. A good fitting pack will take almost all the weight onto the hip belt, then shoulder straps should start about 1" below your actual shoulders, bringing everything in for stability (not weight bearing).

Any staff member worth their salt should do all this for you anyway. I can almost guarantee that if you buy some tacticool shit you will end up replacing it before long.

Also, a question about tents: Is a two person tent actually large enough for two people? Should I get a three person tent for me and my friend to be sure there will be room?

It depends. A 2 man tent will basically be enough room for 2 normal sized people lying side by side without much, if any, space around them. If you're above average height/weight then you might need a bigger tent - same for if you foresee the need to do any actual living in it over a few days.

The good news is that a lot of tents will have two layers which you can split between you and your partner, so the extra weight of a 3 man tent might not be that noticeable.

I miss screwing around in the woods with a horseshoe pack. Anyways, the worst case scenario is that OP has to dig up an old book bag.
OP, if you're going out for <72 hours, and a book bag won't cut it in reasonable weather as far as carrying some sleeping gear, tent, and some socks and food, you might be overpacking. I'm pretty sure I could get the majority of that stuff into an ALICE buttpack.
