Your picture is great but I can't imagine lugging a DSLR innawoods the whole time. let alone also a tripod and then having to carry that down to the bottom of waterfalls and stuff.

Protip, if you have an external frame pack with bars protruding from the top (pic rel) you can hook the camera strap off it so you don't need to carry it awkwardly around your neck or on your shoulder. Kinda retarded but surprisingly practical. Works better with lighter cameras

I carry an olympus em5 mk 3 and the 12-100 lens for hiking. I'm probably gonna trade it in for a used em1 mk3 soon though

I wish I had an /out/ bf.
I would find all the sites and do all the navigation.
He would be big and strong and beefy and lug both of our water on the trail and a DSLR and a tripod and take amazing pictures that our house would be full of framed versions of.

I use a 500D, bought it used. Gonna upgrade to a 6d mark ii when I have the money. I dont want a mirrorless, I have EF lenses, and DSLRs have better battery life, so better for hiking imo

Nikon D5100, I've got it on a quick release on my shoulder strap and i honestly don't notice it 90% of the time. Keep a short lens on it while hiking then a telephoto in my hip pocket. Camera, 2 batteries, 2 lenses, small tripod comes in just over 1kg. It's a bit of weight but i've got a fairly light base weight so even with that my packs not too heavy
