Beach, I lived in the mountains for a few years. It was cool, tho I prefer living on the coast.

hell yeah, every sunday this summer i hung out on this deserted island in the river and watched the rowing girls go by at around 10am on the dot always made sure to take my shirt off and give them some eye candy for the rest of their trip ;)

hell no, by far my favourite place to be, if anything it is underrated lol as long as you don't just lie down on the sand and stand in knee deep water.

definitely rough waters, a lot more fun, variable and can surf, rockfish, spearfish, etc. also closer to open ocean if rough.

definitely beach no where near as much things to do near rivers.
