Also, studies suggest you’re less likely to develop water intoxication by drinking to thirst than planned drinking.
This is because thirst tends to be alleviated before complete rehydration is achieved, but with planned drinking it’s possible to overestimate they amount of water you need and consume too much.
If you’re pissing it all away, you should probably get some electrolytes.
Tl;dr if you feel thirsty, then chug away since you are most likely already a bit dehydrated, but don’t force yourself to drink if you don’t feel thirsty.
