Eh, not sure what board to put this on. I think /ou/ is a better choice, because of the purpose, usage of the knife.
So, an Opinel, everyone knows them. But are they really good? A good friend of mine gifted me the No°8 Carbone and I've been thinking if I should take it with me or leave it home. Anyone had any experience with an Opinel?

It's simple, light weight and cheap. Thin blade good for slicing and easy to sharpen.

I've used a no. 6 for work and EDC, and it's a really good pocket knife. It's cheap because it uses basics material and is a rudimentary design. Despite that it'll hold an edge and slice better than just about anything in the price point
I did a forced patina on mine to protect against rust, plus I like how it looks. I wanna get it customized further at some point, maybe stain the wood and carve my initials and the date I bought it on the handle

the blades are nice and thin, which is good for slicing into things but bad for staying sharp, but good for sharpening cuz sharpening doen't take long at all

they're also very common and you can find used ones for pennies everywhere

That's pretty much all I use and what everyone I know uses. I'm french so theres really not much to think about, it's cheap and everywhere and most importantly tried and tested. Never had an opinel blade snap in half. I broke a few tips but that's it.
