I found some purslane out there and wanted to know if i would be ingesting car wastes and dogshit even after a good rinse. Live in a town btw.

Also chemical fertiliser, oil and coolant that has spilled out of cars during changes, and just about any other waste product you don't wanna eat is going to have been absorbed into that plant.

Pick away from footpaths, roadsides and stagnant water.

Quite a lot of wild edible plants can and will bioaccumulate stuff like Arsenic, Cadmium and Lead out of soil, or from the surrounding environment.

And always thoroughly wash anything you intend to eat and cook it well. Saltwater soaks will also help loosen any hidden bugs in stuff like berries.

ive harvested amanitas and lemon balm in the city. havent died yet. purslane growing out of a crack in the pavement is a little sketchy though dude..
