Yes. I have a nikon point-and-shoot. It's water proof to 30m and shock proof.

I wish I had the time, patience and skill to make a DSLR worth while.

Nice, Olympus look great.
I’d love to try one, but they are a rare beast in NZ.
We mostly get Sony, Pana, Canon. Some Nikon, never tried that either.
My day to day is a Panasonic TZ110.
Does most of what a Proper Camera does, but fits in my pocket.
I have various others but this has surprisingly become my go-to. Love it.
Magfilter for CPL.

It doesnt have to be too expensive. Honestly mine was 200 bucks 10 years ago. I know photos aint wildlife geographic status but I think theyre good especially when considering zoom

OP I'm no photography expert but if you're thinking about buying a camera I urge you to consider going the analogue route:
>Every shot costs money so you are forced to choose your images wisely, basically gives you a 'quality over quantity' attitude to taking photos
>Introduces a new variable for you to experiment with (the film) so gives you more possibilities with just one camera
>If you ever want to take a photo that doesn't justify using film, you can use your phone since the quality won't matter for that photo anyway

just something to think about if you're looking at actually buying a camera.

Probably soon I'm going to get a Olympus TG-6, with the idea of mainly taking macrophotography on the field (lichen, small plants, etc). The durability in rain is very appealing for where I live. My phone takes pretty good photos but doesn't work great for closeups.

This is ckming from someone who drives stick in America, everyones using their two hands to use phone and drive.

But to better enhance general knowledge surrounding analog and therefor our discussion, can analogs have zoom?

Also how would he upload his captures to 4chan? He would need to buy a photo scanner too.

I shoot film innawoods. I have Nikon F2 (HEAVY) and some Zeiss lenses. Usually bring an 85 and a 35 though. It’s a fun hobby. I process film myself and bought a scanner from Best Buy. Could go with cheaper lenses and be in it less than $6-700 easily.

This depends. Yes there is an ongoing cost of buying rolls of film and developing the film, but that usually isn't that much. The initial cost of analog can be far cheaper than digital if you're getting a good digital camera, if you're getting some tiny digital point and shoot then it would be around the same.

If you use a lens that can zoom, yes.

When he gets the film developed (by taking it or mailing it to a development lab) they will also scan the film and send him digital copies of the photos.
