Camping on a bike is tougher than by van. I usually will camp a few nights and grab a motel if it’s going to rain or If I just need a break. Getting the road grime off after a few days feels good. Don’t worry about a nice bike. Just go on what you can get

I do. My bikes not the best for motocamping but it gets the job done. In fact, I recently moved from Illinois to North Carolina partly to have better access to motorcycle roads and camping spots.

Dont forget to check out the Trans American Trail, the starting point is in NC if I remember correctly. I live in VA and have done the parts through VA which were nice. Go through the springtime in my opinion

Hell yeah. One of the most fun part of motorcycling is the ease of camping. This is me after firing the bike into a park that was closed for the season via the pedestrian footpath, and I decided to bring luxury as I was staying for 3 days and brought a tent. Normally, I sleep under my cover - I bought a dark green ATV cover for the cruiser, as it has enough space underneath it to cover the bike fully while also allowing me to ground sleep underneath it. This time, I wanted some comforts, and turns out a 6 man tent will fit a decent wheelbase machine nicely. Did a few wrapped in a greatcoat under that cover while the night temperature hut freezing, which was amusing waking up with frost on the cover to then go riding down the same roads. I always have that green cover and a flat-packable woodstove in my saddlebag, just in case I feel like getting silly. Dirtbag camping is a riot!

My girlfriend got me a haven safari setup for bike camping, thankfully it was on black friday sale but its fuck off expensive, i have earlier complained about normal hammocks where i generally do not sleep well but do it anyway, surprisingly comfy.

I spent a little over a year riding Europe, North American (TAT), and then down through South America. Camped frequently because I was usually way out in the wilderness (at least in the Americas).

Only time I was worried was in Utah somewhere. Out in the forest when a crazy ass storm rolled in. Pitch black, dangerous off road trail on a steep hill. Wind and rain making the trees creak - I absolutely heard some coming down. Trying to find a safe place so as to not get crushed.

I know the feeling. I was somewhere north of the Bradshaw trail in BLM land when I wild storm rolled in through the night. I actually ended up abandoning camp with my dog and making a mad dash in the car over several miles back to the highway because the washes were getting crazy and I was starting to seriously think there was risk of getting caught in a flash flood. God I miss the southwest.

Haven’t done any camping w/ the bike yet, only got it and my license last year.
Also question for anons, I can’t ask it anywhere else. Is anyone else’s dick like extremely sensitive to the cold? Once it hits like 60 out, if I drive for more than 20 minutes my dick goes completely numb, similar feeling to near frostbite that I’ve gotten on my pinky toe. Literally can’t find anything online about it. Tried double layer underwear, stuffin a sock in my pants, I ain’t got a clue.

I really want to get into this thing, but bikes are super expensive. I really like the look and feel of the small dualsports, but I'm worried about taking them onto the open roads around here and being flattened by a zoomer in a tesla, or drugged out you know what, because I don't have enough power to pull away.

What do? Even the two lane roads are 55mph here.

A year and 20 thousand miles.
It's a good bike for the road and dirt roads, but I wouldn't recommend it for adv type riding.
Get a klx300/crf300 for light dual sport.

Don’t want to spam my trip but loving this /out/bike and want to share my long trip. It was from fort myers Florida all the way to Smith Island in Maryland all while camping on the road and parks. One of my funnest times of my live hit a deer, ran from meth heads, loosing keys in a Dennis and fucking a milf on the beach.

Big fan of bike camping. I've been on a few trips in the NSW high country and around that region.
